Press Release: Deleon Unanimously Elected President of DC College Democrats

On Monday, April 10th, Walter Deleon was unanimously confirmed as the next President of the DC Federation of College Democrats.

In a statement to supporters Deleon said: I’m excited to enter this new role as President of DC College Democrats, one of the largest and most politically engaged DNC branches in the country.

With our new board, we will create a stronger, more active organization, support & engage the District’s college students, and make a real impact in local, regional, & national politics.

None of this would have been possible without your support. Let’s continue fighting for our values & work on taking back elected offices in DC & beyond!”

Upon entering office, Deleon will appoint Jose Fontanez as Vice President of the organization & Basira Knight as Political Director.

Walter Deleon has worked on a several campaigns since high school, including Martin O’Malley’s campaign on the governor’s leadership team and Ward 5 Coordinator for Councilmember Robert White’s successful Council campaign this past Fall. Deleon is a student at the University of the District of Columbia.
